When did you join the committee?

I joined the group in 2018.

Why did you want to get involved with AACAL?

By participating in committee meetings, I can see the impact that AACAL can have on learners. It is so positive to see that there are adults who have experienced difficulties in school, and who have decided to take up the challenge of improving their education. This will have a positive impact on their personal life and on the level of employment.

What do you think learners have to gain by enrolling with AACAL?

Taking the decison and the necessary steps to improve your education is a life changing decision! Learners from the Chaleur region are blessed to have access to this free personalized program. Everyone who has a desire to better their education should take advantage of what we offer.

In your opinion, as a society, what do we have to benefit from an increased level of education of the population?

By working together to increase the education level of the population, this will certainly have a positive impact on the workforce. There are more job opportunities for adults who have completed their grade 12. The more educated a region is, the more employers are interested in coming to settle in the region. The more solid the basic education, the easier it will be for the person to learn new things. Education offers so many great possibilities in a lifetime!

Tell us about you!

I was a primary school teacher for many years. I really enjoyed seeing each student taking on challenges in school in order to succeed!

I am now retired and have a lot of hobbies including gardening, sewing, reading, cycling, etc. My partner and I enjoy visiting our children and grandchildren as well as taking care of my mother. I also like going out with friends.

I am a member of 2 committees. It allows me to socialize with other people.
